"Relationships are the foundation of our business" The following is an example of a complex property redevelopment. Earth Technology recently provided the site remediation services required to prepare the site of the former Trolley and Bus Garage on Vernon Street in Hartford. This project required many remedial activities in order to prepare for the future development to get underway. Earth Technology installed all erosion protection and stormwater management required for the execution of the planned project. Additionally, due to the close proximity to residential neighborhoods, dust and noise emissions were constantly monitored and recorded. The initial site task was to install 7000 square feet of steel interlocking sheeting to support the Vernon Street roadway and utilities. Earth Technology provided the sheeting design, engineering and installation of steel piling. |

Earth Technology designed and installed a groundwater depression system via the use of strategically placed deepwells and wellpoints for the dewatering during excavation activities. Excavation in some locations was 12'-15' below the normal groundwater elevation. Additionally, a 300 GPM mobile groundwater treatment system was utilized for the treatment of all contaminated construction dewatering fluids. | |

More than 220,000 tons of impacted materials were excavated, stockpiled, removed and replaced throughout the duration of this project. Approximately 10 underground storage tanks were located and removed during the remediation activity. All foundations, trolley tracks and subsurface structures were removed and processed for disposal. Earth Technology imported all of the backfill required for the resultant void created by structure and soil removal and placed the material in accordance with project specifications. Earth Technology was also responsible for the compaction of 280,000 square feet of area to a depth of 20' below grade. This was achieved through the use of the Deep Dynamic Compaction method.

Unexpectedly, TCE and PCE hazardous materials were encountered during project execution. Earth Technology performed this work in level "B" including all perimeter monitoring, material handling and segregation. Approximately 1400 cubic yards of suspected hazardous materials were removed. |
